Quartet and hot chocolate
This Saturday we were running through the forest. We brought a big wheelbarrow filled with all kinds of objects. From hoops to balls, everything was in there. The Beavers had to make a circle out of sticks and collect four identical objects inside of it. They were also allowed to steal from each other, but they could only hold one object at a time. Once you had four identical objects, you had to shout QUARTET as loudly as you could.
After playing the game, the Beavers went back to the clubhouse. There we drank hot chocolate and ate cookies by the fire. It was delicious and cozy.
Autumn leaves
Today, the Beavers went to the forest, surrounded by beautiful autumn leaves. We set out to build a big wooden hut! The Beavers were divided into two groups, and each team had to build a strong and beautiful hut.
All through the forest, they searched for the perfect branches and leaves. Then we heard the call that there were only a few minutes left to finish the huts. The Beavers rushed around, quickly placing the last branches and leaves.
Next, the Beavers had to hide cones inside and on top of their huts. Everyone received a card with fire, water, or sponge. They had to tag each other and win using the powers of their cards. Once they succeeded, they could run off to search for all the cones.
After the game, we took the Jungle Path back to the lodge. The Beavers climbed over fallen tree trunks and ran through tall grass until they reached a huge pile of leaves. Hidden inside was one last cone! The Beavers rolled and climbed through the leaves, searching for it with great excitement. It was a grand autumn adventure! 🍁
The GFBake-off
An exciting competition awaited the Beavers this week. Three chefs had flown over from Japan to teach the Beavers how to bake and to judge the competition. The Beavers had to bake the most delicious Dutch apple turnovers, while the team of leaders baked an apple-pear cake blindfolded. They started by cutting the apples into smaller pieces with the help of the chefs. Cinnamon was added to the apples and the mixture was placed on pieces of dough. Every Beaver made two very tasty apple turnovers. While these were in the oven, we played hide and seek and a game of red light, green light. Then it was time for the tasting, and it was very clear that the Beavers had won.
Eggs in oranges
The Beavers played lots of games in the forest today. They could earn coins by playing all the different games. When we returned to the scouts cabin, the Beavers could buy eggs, oranges and tools with their coins. The eggs were placed in the orange peel and placed on the fire. Afterwards the Beavers enjoyed their very delicious eggs.
Beaver pilots
Today, the Beavers were trained by pilot Merel to become Beaver pilots. We started with a game of airplane tag. The tagger had to run around with his arms stretched out like an airplane and tag the other Beavers. After that, the Beaver pilots in training had to build their own paper airplane. These were then beautifully decorated with colourfull markers and lots of stickers.
Of course, the Beavers also had to learn how to fly an airplane. A course made of ropes and hoops was set up. The Beavers had to throw their airplanes as far as possible to earn the most points. If an airplane flew through a hoop, the Beavers would receive an extra point.
Since airplanes can also deliver packages, the Beavers practiced that too. They had to try delivering as much packages from one side of the path to the other without getting tagged. After this eventful training the Beavers had all earned their own Beaver pilot diploma.
A morning full of games
We started this rainy morning with a game of tree tag. If the Beavers were tagged, they had to stand like a tree with their arms wide. They could be freed again if their arms were pushed down. After this game, we had an object race. The beavers were split into two groups and had to race to grab the object placed in the middle. They slid across the ground trying to be the first to grab it.
Next, the Beavers also formed a big snake and maneuvered through a hoop. We stood in a line, holding hands, and everyone had to pass through the hoop without letting go. Of course, a bit of rain does not stop the Beavers! We went outside and played tag. Afterwards, we enjoyed some delicious warm chocolate milk with whipped cream.
Aluminum treasure hunt
A trail of aluminum was set out through the forest. The Beavers went on a journey to collect all the aluminum and reach the finish line of the treasure hunt. We had to jump and maneuver through plants in order to collect all of it. Once we arrived at the finish line, there was a real-life Pac-man course. The beavers had to collect as many coins as possible before getting tagged by the ghosts.
Water, Fire, Sponge
This week, the Beavers went on a hike through the forest. They walked through tall grass and climbed over large, fallen tree trunks. Then they arrived at a big open field. The Beavers were divided over two groups, and both were on a mission to build a big fort out of sticks. After that, the Beavers had to hide a scarf in their fort. Each of them was then given a card with either fire, water or a sponge. Water beats fire, fire beats sponge and sponge beats water. If the Beavers had tagged each other, they had to show their card. If you were beaten, you had to go back to your fort and get a new card. You won by finding the other group’s scarf and bringing it back to your own fort. After this exciting game, the Beavers roasted marschmallows above a fire and happily ate them.
Smuggling coins and baking bread
Today the beavers went into the forest with a bag of golden coins. The goal was to move as much coins from one side to the other. The beavers were divided into two groups, the smugglers and the taggers. If a smuggler got tagged, he had to give his coin to the other team. After this game the beavers baked their own bread above a campfire. The bread was than devoured with a lot of joy.
An adventure after the summer
This week the Beavers went on an adventure at the Karpendonkse plas. We played a variant of tag in which the beavers have to run from hoop to hoop without getting tagged. After that we had a lot of fun with protecting and attacking blocks during blocksfootball. At the end of our adventure we played in the playground.
